"An Independent Table.
When in the course of food history it becomes necessary for people to seek more perfect foods the Fatted Calf shall provide a tasty meat alternative.
We hold this truth to be self evident, that all sausages are not created equal. Compare our Knockwurst, comprised of Marin Sun Farms Beef and Heritage Pork, made by hand and carefully smoked over fruitwood to the tasteless tubes sold en masse across the nation and the choice is clear. Basque Sausage, with exuberant Espelette Pepper, liberates the palate from the injustices of large scale production. Duck Crepinettes studded with fruity Picholine Olives and Harissa marinated Cattail Creek Lamb Brochettes will enlighten the traditional American grill. Call to arms the glorious summer produce from small, local farms with whom we stand in solidarity each week at the Farmer's Market and you will have a truly unfettered feast.
This Fourth of July, free yourself from the tyranny of the supermarket, declare your table independent and engage in the delicious pursuit of happiness.
See you at the market!"
Toponia Miller, co-owner/partner of Fatted Calf
Like you, I have a lot to read if I pay attention to everything in my mailbox, in-box not to mention all the
little black characters packed onto smudgy newsprint. But every once an a while I read writing that makes me turn my head askew. This weekend's FC Newsletter was one of those. Lines like:
"This Fourth of July, free yourself from the tyranny of the supermarket, declare your table independent and engage in the delicious pursuit of happiness," make me want to leap out of my computer chair and do a great prose interpretive dance.
Anyone who has ever met Toponia or Taylor knows the owners of Fatted Calf are not short on personality, humour, smarts or passion. Written originally by Kim O'Neill, the newsletter has been a constant source for meaty, wordy, silly, mouth-watering words and evocative descriptions of Fatted Calf's weekly menu.
Need some little pillows of joy, aka Crepinettes? Your grill can't live without Harissa Marinated Cattail Creek Lamb Brochettes? Want to liven up some plain spaghetti with their incredible fennel sausage? Order Here, just specify which market you'll see them at. Otherwise, I can tell you from experience, you may be out of luck. Fatted Calf have been known to sell out before you're even thinking of getting out of bed!
I have just been munching on their saucisson sec for a late lunch and all the time I was thinking how blessed I am to be able to eat such wonderful food.
Thanks Taylor & Toponia!

Alright! I'm glad you got it posted. I missed it last week, too much going on. In fact, I missed the market too. I only miss 1 or 2 a year, it's what I do.
