Live Blogging is tiring. I think if I knew how to type it might be easier.
The last dessert component I made was pie. One in an entremet ring, the other in a very leetle "pot pie" aluminum tin. Blackberries: big and black and shiny from the farmer's market. I ground some vanilla bean sugar, added a pinch of cornstarch and four, gave it a good stir with the hands, spooned in into the frozen pie shells.
Pie dough loves to get freezing cold before entering the oven. Does so, I asked them.
It's hard to know the size they will want these desserts. I am making them a little bigger than I usually would because they mentioned "value" innumerable times. The way I give my desserts value is I start with incredible ingredients. Then I manipulate them in ways that might not exactly come to mind, but are not so far-reaching as to create something just foreign for the sake of it.
I am no molecular gastronomist.
I am classical purist, with a quirky touch. I like to keep them on their toes. I might surprise you, but it would never feel like ambush.
ps. I have so many photos. Anyone know the easiest, most efficient way to get them from iPhoto to Flikr? Thanks!
Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment! This is so fascinating - I can't wait to read the report on the tasting!

FlickrExport works great for me. I haven't tried the most recent version. It is now shareware (used to be free) but I've liked it enough to think about upgrading and paying the 12 euros. THere's a 30 day trial too.

PS: Love your blog!

If you use Quicksilver, I find the Flickr plugin to be rather handy. From iPhoto though, I'd have to agree that FlickrExport is probably the easiest.

I use the Flickr Uploader for OSX with good success. It is still in beta.
URL: http://blog.flickr.com/flickrblog/2004/06/beta_of_the_fli.html. Tiny URL: http://tinyurl.com/hoy7z
It supports basic drag/drop from iPhoto as well as group tagging and album creation.
It is free!
I tried a Flickr Exporter for iPhoto about six months ago and didn't have a lot of luck with it. It crashed a lot. It might be better now but it does require $$ to register it.

Who cares if you can't type? I'm just glad you're not a molecular gastronomist! Yummy little pies -- love the look-out holes.

I love the techies!! Please come to eggbeater more often! Speak in a language I don't understand! These are the sweet nothings I want!!
Farah-- click on that colored word "pie" and you will find the pie dough recipe. Click on the "Pie II Crust Revisited" link under Definitive Pieces" and you will find very helpful instructions about pastry in general.
I'm glad you found me too!
Kudzu, My secret wish is that one day I will learn how to type.

Shuna, I think I speak for all techies everywhere when I say we would gladly speak techie on demand in exchange for pie*, or reasonable facsimiles thereof (such as lovely photos). :)
* also: cake.

Shuna...your blog is so cool. I'm going to go thru every page! I've been using the flickr uploader (it's free) and it's worked pretty well...I'm on a mac. Here's the url: http://www.flickr.com/tools/

From one non-techie Luddite to another, I'll add my vote to the mix for the FlickR Uploader. In IPhoto hold down the apple key and click on each of the photos that you want to add to the Uploader then drag the whole mess into the Uploader. Or, if you're feeling crazy, press "select all" and load your entire iPhoto library into the Uploader. Then go and assemble a pie as your photos get transferred into the Uploader. Then add tags and titles if you feel in the mood. Then press upload photos. Then bake your pie.
PS Loved bumping into you at Pizzaiolo on Wednesday! Hope your tasting went well and, more importantly, that you had a little fun with the whole process.
