It's rare you get to hear you're heros and heroines in person. And in the restaurant industry, if you stop working with any of these people it's rarer still that you would come into contact with them again, outside of a kitchen.
That's why when I saw that Danny Meyer was going to be speaking at my favorite place, The Commonwealth Club in San Francisco, I lept at the chance to go and hear and see him again. In the mid '90's I had the honor and pleasure of woking for him at his second restaurant (he now has 11!), Gramercy Tavern.
Luckily for all of you, even those not living in North America, Danny Meyer has written a book!
