Who do you aspire to be like? Does your industry have spokespeople you trust?
Six amazing chefs gather in SF for an 11 minute video created for the SF Chronicle about the state of our industry today, where are all the female cooks and chefs, who cooks what food and why it's all important. Check it out here. If you follow this link, go for no other reason than to hear Joyce Goldstein tell it like it is. You think I'm bold? I'm nothing compared to this woman!
Really, if you are going to be on the computer for 11 more minutes, just listen to what these chef/ restaurant owners have to say...
Good video. It started out focused on the topic, but then branched off into current gener-neutral problems in the industry and the 'new generation' of kitchen employees. It just proved to me that there is less discernible difference in the way that men and women cook despite the points made in the beginning. I don't know many guys (excluding the young, dumb, full of cum breed) out there just trying to make tall food (that was also interesting... making a reference to a trend that is already long gone and passe). It seems that the discussion encouraged whipping the modern generation into the realities of cooking and teaching them that being a chef is more important than what's growing between our legs and more related to the organs we all share... stomachs and tongues full of happy nerve endings waiting to be satiated.
Good link. I thoroughly enjoyed it. You always find the cool stuff.
